You speak Prada?!

Ever since reading Confessions of a Shopaholic on an Amtrak trip to New York earlier in the month, I’ve been excitedly anticipating the movie’s June 23rd release on DVD to see how it compares. The book was decent; a fun, quick, mildly ridiculous girly read set in London. On Sunday night after the USA’s loss to Brazil in the FIFA Confederation Cup, I was more than happy to escape boy world, snuggle up in my covers, and pop this into my DVD player. The movie adapted the setting to New York, and cast the adorable Isla Fisher as Rebecca Bloomwood, which was a definite WIN. It was hard to watch (re: cringeworthy) in parts, but the screenplay was a good adaptation of the book that squeezed in all the good bits and added new twists and vignettes that were more screen worthy. It was a fun lesson on fiscal responsibility in the current economy, and minus the dancing mannequins, seemed largely plausible. Fisher as Rebecca is naive, sweet, happy-go-lucky…and incredibly wise (I’m serious). Rent it for movie night with your girlfriends, or enjoy after watching any major sporting event.

“Transformers…it’s upgrade time.”

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen sweeps the weekend box office, taking a projected 5 day total earnings of about $201.6 million, just short of The Dark Knight’s 5 day take last year which was the biggest ever. Michael Bay & Steven Spielberg have already covered their $200 million budget, and the film looks like it will quickly surpass Up as the highest grossing movie of 2009.

“What’s he doing here?!”

Tonight on “Daisy of Love,” London returns. The previews from last week intimated that it was either him or Daisy’s ex-boyfriend circa “Rock of Love” that would be re-appearing this week. Since London left DoL, I’ve been waiting for him to return…or for them to announce him getting his own VH1 show. Stay tuned tonight for Chi Chi & Sinister’s breakup.

I have to say, the gorilla in this ad outshines Mike Tyson’s performance of “In the Air Tonight” in The Hangover.

Zach Galifianakis goes back to school! Pre-school. I watched Zach Galifianakis: Live at the Purple Onion last weekend with my boyfriend during the late night Zach Attack on Comedy Central, and was pretty enthralled; he isn’t so much of a stand up comedian as an entertainer and a personality. There is something about his self-assuredness and dead pan look that just lures audiences in. When he burped into the microphone, the whole audience (guilty as charged), laughed with him as though he had told an awesome joke. The highlight of the special was definitely Zach pretending to be his brother during an interview; hilarious.

Zach: Miles, what’s your joke?
Miles: A chicken!
