Between Kanye’s interruption of Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video acceptance speech, Janet’s MJ Tribute, premieres of the Fame Music Video, “Twilight”‘s Extended Trailer, “This is It“, Michael Jackson’s unseen rehearsal footage doc, Lady Gaga’s suicidal performance and the ever obnoxious Russel Brand (no one wants to get in those pants mate), MTV’s 2009 VMAs was full of excitement. My favorite part bar none though was the finale duet by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys (minus Lil Mama…). Empire State of Mind is an infectious surefire hit blending rap, RnB, and classical music flawlessly. I’m not big into rap, but this song is seriously smooth.

The airwaves are flooded with the live coverage of Michael Jackson’s memorial service. CNN’s homepage seems to be devoted solely to the events at the Staples Center and continued reports on his life and death. Amidst all of the madness, I find solace in one of my childhood favorites (just sang at the memorial by Jennifer Hudson), “Will You Be There.” I might have to go back and rewatch Free Willy.

Eternal Moonwalk offers a truly worthy tribute to the King of Pop: a constant stream of user uploaded videos of themselves/their pets/their children doing the moonwalk, one after another. Somewhere, the King of Pop is smiling.

Michael Jackson has officially been declared dead by paramedics. RIP Jacko. The world will mourn this loss.

Michael Jackson, Prince of Pop, has been rushed to the hospital after reportedly suffering a heart attack at 12:21 pm (3:21 ET) in LA. Things do not bode well for his July 13th kickoff date at London’s O2 Arena. Paramedics report that Jacko was not breathing when they arrived.
